
Gaining Ground Garden
Gaining Ground Garden in Marathon County provides individuals with court mandated community service hours an opportunity to learn horticultural and vocational skills. Fall programming centered on implementation of Integrated Pest Management applied to weed management. Participants were introduced to concepts and components of IPM and addressed various management techniques and the place of chemical solutions in the hierarchy of options.
Gaining Ground Garden participants have reported a total of 125 community service hours to ATTIC Correctional Services from August 1-October 30. Participants shared changes in knowledge in formal and informal evaluations and have informally expressed feelings of pride and increased well being from time spent in the garden.
Green Team
Green Team provides Veterans in Marathon County and surrounding communities an opportunity to engage in camaraderie and personal enrichment. Fall programming centered on implementation of IPM weed management. Participants were introduced to concepts and components of IPM and addressed various management techniques and the place of chemical solutions in the hierarchy of options.

Extension Wellness Series
Join us for our Extension Wellness Series! The Extension Wellness Series aims to meet the needs of vulnerable populations in Area 7 (Marathon, Portage, Wood, and Clark Counties) by utilizing Area 7 Extension educators in a variety of program areas (Financial, nutrition, horticulture, and mental wellness). Classes are held every Tuesday with virtual and in-person options (note that November and December classes are all virtual). There will be monthly prize drawings; you will receive an entry for every class you attend. The series begins in November 2021 and will run through December 2022. Register here.
